Job Summary

We are currently seeking a talented and detail-oriented BIM Technician to support our structural engineering team. As a BIM Technician, you will play a prominent  role in the creation and management of Building Information Models (BIM) for our projects. You will collaborate closely with our engineers and designers to develop accurate and efficient 3D models, as well as extract valuable information for construction documentation and coordination purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain high-quality 3D models using BIM software (e.g., Autodesk Revit) in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.

  • Collaborate with the structural engineering team to ensure accurate representation of structural components within the models.

  • Assist in the coordination of multidisciplinary models, identifying and resolving clashes and conflicts.

  • Generate 2D drawings, sections, and details from the BIM models for use in construction documents.

  • Assist in managing and organizing our BIM templates and database, ensuring files are properly named, linked, and version controlled.

  • Stay updated with the latest BIM technologies, methodologies, and industry best practices, and make recommendations for process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in civil engineering, architecture, or related field.

  • Proven experience as a BIM Technician in a structural engineering or architectural firm.

  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.

  • Basic understanding of structural engineering principles and construction processes are an asset.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate and precise 3D models.

  • Knowledge of industry standards and guidelines related to BIM implementation is an asset.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve clashes and conflicts.

  • Time management skills to meet project deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality.

Job Summary

As a Junior/Intermediate Structural Designer at Quinn Dressel Associates, you will join a team of skilled professionals and assist in the completion of engineering designs and projects. You will have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the design process and advance your skills and knowledge working towards becoming a structural engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design, development, and implementation of new-builds, restorations, rehabilitations, and renovations of existing structures, ensuring conformance with all applicable building codes.

  • Contribute to the production of construction contract documents for steel, concrete, and wood structures.

  • Attend meetings with consultant teams (architects, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, etc.), to develop structural concepts for residential and commercial buildings. 

  • Assist the senior designers in the completion of engineering designs and calculations

  • Assist in the preparation of technical documentation, including reports, specifications, and design records, to ensure clear communication and knowledge transfer within the team and with our clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

  • Currently holding, or eligible to hold a Professional Engineering License in the Province of Ontario within 2 years.

  • 2-7 years of experience in engineering, preferably in residential or commercial structural design.

  • Strong working knowledge of structural analysis and design software (ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, etc.)

  • Familiarity with lateral load design procedures.  

  • Familiarity with concrete rehabilitation and restoration practices, including assessment and repair of existing concrete structures.

  • Strong working knowledge of CAD software including Revit and AutoCAD.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and make data-driven decisions.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with inter-disciplinary teams, stakeholders, and clients.

  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.

Qualifications
