Hilton Niagara, Phases I & II

Hilton Niagara Phase I renovations required that prime views of the falls be achieved. The work included a 34-storey, $42M addition to the existing structure. Major challenges on this project included tying into the existing building, a clear-span open atrium requiring column and wall transfers in an earthquake zone, an open-concept rooftop restaurant requiring a clear span of 16m, and deep sand layers which were resolved with a mat foundation.

Hilton Niagara Phase II involved the design of a 53-storey, 500 suite hotel which includes a waterpark, convention centre, entertainment facilities, and a below-grade parking garage with capacity for 333 vehicles. The structure is capped with an iridizing metal roof which is classically peaked. The top floors are decorated with arches and spandrels to achieve the softness of resort ambiance. These large windows and balcony also form the environs for the Observatory, offering some exterior space and a relief to the verticality of the structure.

Four Seasons Luxor Resort Hotel, Egypt
(Design Only)

Proposed to be located on the east bank of the Nile near such Egyptian landmarks as the Luxor Temple and the colonial-era Winter Palace Hotel, the design for the Four Seasons Luxor Resort Hotel was inspired by the rich history of its ancient context. The hotel would be comprised of two wings housing 201 hotel rooms, anchored by a central porte-cochere and lobby, and flanked by landscaped terraces, gardens and pools that cascade down the embankment.  Next to the lobby, a piano and cigar bar would spill out onto an outdoor patio.  At grade, the hotel wing amenities would include specialty restaurants, cabanas and ballrooms, kitchens and some ground level hotel rooms.
